Yousra Sobeih is Head of Science Program Unit at the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), one of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Academic Research Centers, where she organizes international scientific and educational events and programs. She is also involved in a number of international projects that deal with enhancing education quality and building networks of scientists and researchers in the field of life sciences and higher education, among those projects Knowledge-Triangle Platform for the Water-Energy-Food Nexus EU-TEMPUS Project (TEMPUS), Science Supercourse Project with WHO collaborating center, Pittsburgh University, USA and others. Ms. Sobeih, served on the committee of two Egyptian Institutes for Teaching Responsible Conduct of Research held in Egypt, 2015 that were in cooperation with the National academies of Sciences. Moreover, she was engaged in various international and national activities and projects in the field of Social Development and Youth empowerment mainly within the framework of EUROMED (European- Mediterranean) Youth Projects. For over a year- before joining the CSSP-, Yousra had worked in the business sector as an Export Coordinator in an Importing and Exporting company in Egypt. Yousra studied Anthropology and holds a Bachelor degree of Arts from Alexandria University, Egypt (2006). Main fields of research: Public health with focus on the its social dimensions, and Education methodologies (specially higher education)
 
 
  Abstract
 
Research with Dual Use Potentials: Ethical Challenge Facing Research
Science, new technologies and research has opened new horizons to human kind by its astonishing advancements and outcomes, and life science research in particular have proven to bring solution to various challenges, by providing technologies that help make life easier; cures to diseases, new ways to deal with nature, and countless discoveries that promise solutions to different problems. Nevertheless these research outcomes and technologies present a challenge in how its outcomes are applied, the responsible use of information has been questioned due to some unethical use of the research outcomes and technologies. The talk will address, the researcher responsibility in this regards, and how to foster the responsible conduct of research on different levels.
