The Calligraphy Center in Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a lecture on The Recent Excavation at Nelson Island(Abu-Qir) by Dr. Paolo Gallo, Head of the Italian Mission to Alexandria. The lecture will be at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Lecture Hall on Thursday, 29 October 2009, 6:00 pm
The calligraphy Center at Bibliotheca Alexandrina announces the launching of “The Digital Library of Inscriptions and Calligraphies” project in Thursday 13/8/2009, 19:00 pm at the Conference Center (Delegates Hall), Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The Digital Library of Inscriptions is considered a digital recording of all inscriptions existing on ancient buildings and monuments throughout the ages. These inscriptions are digitally displayed for the user, including a brief description and pictures of the inscriptions. The languages included in the Digital Library are Ancient Egyptian, Arabic, Turkish, and Persian languages. Moreover, there are inscriptions bearing Thamodic, Greek, Musnad, and Nabatean scripts.
The Calligraphy Center in Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing the Fourth International Forum on Calligraphy,Writings and Inscriptions from 16-18 March 2009, in the Conference Center, Small Theatre. The main topic of the forum will be “Coins in the World”.
