Ancient Egypt has long been a source of fascination for students and readers of the Ancient Egyptian Civilization and also for tourists who come from all over the world to see its magnificent monuments. It is a leading civilization whose influence extends to many later and even contemporary civilizations. We the Egyptians inherited a wealth of unique and spectacular monuments and the lore on one of the world’s first civilizations. This is strongly manifested in the names of some cities, numerous terms of our language, customs, traditions, and pillars of our culture.
The Library of Alexandria has, therefore, decided to highlight the marvels of the Egyptian Civilization through myriad activities, including lectures, seminars, conferences, and exhibitions. The theme of the First Archaeological Cultural Season is Egyptian Monuments and Civilization. For almost six months, twenty lectures will be given in various topics, including the ancient Egyptian Language, Manuscripts of Naga’ Hammadi, Papyrus, Mummification, Medicine, and the Legacy of Ancient Egypt.
The lectures are given by Dr. Abdelhalim Noureldin, Professor of Egyptology, Faculty of Antiquities, Cairo University, and advisor to the Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, former Dean of the Faculty of Antiquities, and former Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
As these lectures are being highly successful at the academic and public levels, the BA has decided to organize the Second Archaeological Season featuring lectures about the most important aspects of the Ancient Egyptian Civilization. The lectures aim to raise awareness about the Egyptian Civilization.
We hope that this cultural season receives due appreciation and recognition.
