Taha Hussein Library
The Taha Hussein Library is a new concept, opening
new horizons for the blind and the visually impaired enabling them
to access all the resources of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina as well
as the resources on the Internet.
The Taha Hussein Library is one of the specialized
libraries in the BA concerned with providing services not only for the
blind but also for other print-handicapped readers. The electronic library is
equipped with special software. This special software allows direct access to
the BA website and the Internet, too.

The main objectives of this Library is to promote
national and international cooperation in this field and to encourage
research and development in all aspects of this area, thus improving
the access of information for the blind and other print-handicapped
individuals. It aims at bringing a new era of knowledge and information
technologies to the blind and visually impaired and creating
a new generation of blind individuals capable of facing the new
digital age and able to cope with the new information technologies.
The Library, named in honor of Taha Hussein, one
of the most famous blind writers in the Egyptian and Arab culture.
The library chose the name to indicate that it will be the center
for educating all blind and visually impaired individuals seeking
knowledge from this library.
Besides accessing all resources available
in the BA main library, the Taha Hussein Library also holds some Braille documents
and talking books.
