Current Collection
The library has a large collection of books in Arabic, English and French, as well as in a variety of other European
languages such as, German, Italian and Spanish. In addition, there is a collection of infrequent languages such as Haiti, Creole and Zulu.
The current collection includes resources received from donors from
all over the world on a variety of subjects.
The library maintains materials
in a variety of forms:
The printed materials include periodicals,
newspapers as well as reference books, series collections and theses.
The non-printed materials include audiocassettes, videocassettes,
CDs and other e-resources.
Books for young people and children are chosen according to the policy
of BA for the collection development of youth.
The BA collection is constantly expanding according to the guidelines
governing the collection development policy.
Collection Distribution in
the Main Reading Hall
The Main Reading Hall is among the greatest open
reading halls in the world. It accommodates 2,000 readers simultaneously. It also offers 200 study rooms for scholars and researchers.
The library collection is classified according to
the DDC (=Dewey Decimal Classification) and is displayed over seven levels
according to what refered to as "The Pyramid of Knowledge" from
the B4 to the F2. All the collection, printed and non-printed is accessible through
the BA Catalog.
