Overview


The Multimedia Library is a unit in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Library, located in the Basement 3 level of the Main Library (B3).

The Multimedia (MM) Library holds a collection of media materials including videocassettes, CD Roms, DVDs, audio and videotapes, transparencies, slides as well as other audiovisual resources. The collection covers a wide range of topics.

In addition to the audiovisual materials, the MM Library houses a collection of printed materials on cinema, theater, music and performing arts.

All printed and non-printed materials are searchable through the BA catalog which is available online through the Internet.


The MM Library offers facilities for listening and viewing of its collection. Individual rooms with different audiovisual equipment provide access to these resources.
Also computer workstations in the open reading area of the MM Library include earphones that allow visitors to listen to and play digital multimedia material using special multimedia software, the “MM View”.

In addition, a show room for groups is also available in the MM Library. A maximum of 20 people may view videotapes daily according to the MM Library's monthly schedule.
