General Information
The General Information Desk, located at the Entrance
Level of the Main Library, is the first stop for information
within the BA.

Librarians at the General Information
Desk provide users with general information,
as well as information about BA-sponsored activities and library services.
They assist patrons by helping them to identify and
clarify their needs, and refering them to the appropriate
sources of information. They also help to prepare the
orientation program presented daily to users on how to access
information throughout the library, and conduct professional tours for visiting librarians
Specialized Information
Specialized Information Desks are found on each
of the seven cascading levels of the main reading hall.

The main reading hall, with its open-access shelves,
displays the library's collection. It is designed for self-service, but librarians at each information desk are there
to help patrons retrieve information and guide them in the
use of BA catalog and databases. When necessary, librarians will conduct
searches to obtain information requested by a patron, or to locate additional references on specific subjects.
Library users may ask to reserve a computer workstation at one of the Information Desks.
Librarians also welcome reference enquiries from researchers by e-mail, fax, mail, telephone, or in person
