Movie Archive

This collection contains 1000 movies originally from the Prelinger Archives. The films focus mainly on everyday life, culture, industry, and institutions in North America in the 20 th century. This rich archive can be used to freely copy and view, or more importantly to help people make their own movies using this as free stock footage. Enabling children to make their own movies and then redistribute them on the Internet will lead to new forms of expression quite different from current cinema and television. This collection will be augmented with digitized movies from all over the world in the coming years.

Currently these are only available for download in DVD quality (MPEG2-2). To play an MPEG2-2 (.mpg) movie on Windows, install an application such as Elecard's MPEG2-2 video decoded shareware.Download Elecard
