Overview
The Young People's Library welcomes
students ages 11 to 16 years, trains them on the use of the BA Catalog
as well as on how to research in a library. It holds an international
collection of youth books, journals, AV materials as well as other
e-resources covering various fields of knowledge in numerous languages.
In addition to its collection, the YP Library
provides a wide variety of programs and services for the youth.
How to get there
The Young People's Library is located on the first floor of the
Bibliotheca Alexandrina and is accessible through a separate staircase in the Entrance Hall
referred to as the "Hall of Fame”.
Mission
The Mission of the Young People's Library is to introduce young people
to information technology, develop their awareness and knowledge,
encourage social interaction between young people inside and outside
the library and develop reading and research skills in young users.
Goals
- Complement the school curriculum with additional
resources.
- Promote reading through library activities and talks
presented by authors.
- Implementation of the Reading for All Program.
- Meet the needs of young people by providing material for reading
and leisure, resources for schoolwork, and a library environment
dedicated to young adults.
- Support the information needs of the young people to build a responsible and
intellectual generation.
