Collection
The Young Adult Collection contains a wide collection
of print and non-print material to meet the various needs and interests
of young adults ages between 11 to 16 years. The library currently
has over 9,500 volumes.
The YP collection includes a selection
of Books, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Atlases, Full text Database,
Audiovisual Materials, appropriate for young adults; and
a wide selection of Internet links to introduce
young adults to information technology.
The Young People's Library has books in all fields
of knowledge, such as history, geography,
philosophy and religion; the new technologies such as the
computer and Internet books; passing through various subjects as
language, literature, arts, sports, social sciences, applied science,
natural science and mathematics.
The collection consists of more than six languages;
mainly Arabic, English and French, as well as German, Spanish and Turkish.
Fiction
Popular and current fiction, hardback and paperback.
Genres include mystery, science fiction,
fantasy, horror and adventure. All the fiction collection
can be checked out for 2 weeks.
Non-fiction
The Juvenile and Young Adult non-fiction collection
is maintained and developed to meet the educational, informational,
and recreational needs of students ages 12 to 18 years. This collection
contains books in general fields of knowledge, focusing on
subjects of interest to young people and for use in completing the school
curriculums. Strong emphasis is placed on history,
sports, science, animals, art, social science, encyclopedias and
biographies.
Videos
This collection consists of video cassettes, including
various documentaries, cultural and some entertaining films.
Audio books
This collection contains books on tape. Audio books
may be fiction or non-fiction.
Magazines
Print and online magazines and newspapers are
available covering most subject areas.
Braille collection
The collection contains fiction and non-fiction books,
in Braille for the blind young adult (in Arabic).
