Factors contributing to facility-based obstetric hemorrhage mentioned by participants were: limited availability of basic supplies, lack of human resources, inadequate clinical skills of health workers and substandard referrals by traditional birth attendants and lack of self-referrals of patients.

This review provides an analysis of changes in abortion mortality in three countries where policy reform and related service delivery occurred. This paper demonstrates the policy and program changes that led to declines in abortion-related mortality in Romania, South Africa and Bangladesh.

This report tracks four maternal health supplies: oxytocin, misoprostol, magnesium sulfate and manual vacuum aspirators. These supplies address three of the most common direct causes of maternal mortality in Asia. This study assesses the factors that inhibit access to maternal health supplies.
