Biography:

Professor at several Arab, European and American universities, Prof. Asfour has served as Secretary General of the Egyptian High Council of Culture. He is one of the most influential authors and critics in Egypt and has published “Countering Fanaticism”, “Times of the Novel” and “In Defense of the Enlightenment”, among others. He plays a major role in the dissemination of Arab culture worldwide. His highly original literary criticism has gained international recognition. A champion of intercultural dialogue, he has promoted values such as women’s rights, respect for others, creative diversity and tolerance. He was awarded many prizes from prestigious organizations for his distinguished contributions in the field of culture.
