Katherine  Marshall

Executive Director of the World Faiths Development Dialogue


Biography:

Ms. Marshall has focused over a long career on international development. She is a visiting professor of government at Georgetown, and also visiting professor at the University of Cambodia. She is Executive Director of the World Faiths Development Dialogue, which was established by James D. Wolfensohn and Lord Carey of Clifton, to bridge gulfs separating the worlds of faith and development. She serves on several advisory and NGO boards, including the Niwano Peace Prize International Selection Committee, the Opus Prize Foundation, AVINA Americas, and the International Development Ethics Association (IDEA). She is an advisory board member of the International Anti Corruption Conference. As a World Bank officer (1971-2006) she worked in many areas especially on Africa, Latin America, and East Asia. Her final assignment there involved a mandate to address issues of ethics and values. Her publications include Development and Faith: where Mind, Heart and Soul work Together (World Bank, 2007) and The World Bank: From Reconstruction to Development to Equity (Routledge, January 2008). She writes regularly for the Newsweek/Washington Post On Faith site and for the Huffington Post.
