October Astronomy Night: Science Fiction Movies and Astronomy

Science fiction movies were not about science at all, but mere fiction. However, during the past few years, things have changed and an eminent film director like Christopher Nolan consulted specialized scientists to apply correct scientific theories in his great movie Interstellar. The movie displayed the theory of relativity on the big screen. During this month’s Astronomy night, we will be introduced to the most important scientific ideas discussed in the movie; for example, dimensions, space time, black holes, worm tunnels, and gravity.


1001 Inventions Exhibition: Discovering Our Past, Inspiring Our Future

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) will host the globally successful “1001 Inventions” exhibition and accompanying activities in Egypt during the period 20 October till 15 December 2015. This is in collaboration with the 1001 Inventions Organization and the Ministry of Scientific Research’s Academy of Scientific Research and Technology .

On Saturday 5 September 2015, at 6:00 pm, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has Launched the Second Edition of EMME summer school. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) has welcomed about 20 eminent professional speakers in the field of informal science education and communication. It has also welcomed 17 participants from the Arabic speaking countries. The keynote speakers of the inauguration ceremony were at their ease and gave informal inspiring word


The Planetarium Science Center at Bahrain Summer Festival 2015

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Planetarium Science Center has contributed in the Bahrain Summer Festival 2015 during August. The center has contributed in the third week of the festival under the overarching theme “The African Week”, the center’s animators presented the famous Super Science Show, an interactive show that simplifies science to the public through a number of practical experiments displayed in a funny and simple way. There was a large audience because the show’s content and simplicity.


August Astronomy Night

In this month’s astronomy night, Miss Radwa Ossama, coordinator at the Egyptian Society for Astronomy (ESA) will be giving a lecture. After that, there will be a show at the Planetarium theater presented by Dr. Omar Fikry, Head of the Planetarium section about the Summer’s sky.
