Abstract: The year 2004 marked the tenth anniversary of the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief. This publication provides an overview of what has been discussed during the international conference entitled “Ten years Code of Conduct: Principles in practice”, which took place on the 20th of September 2004 in The Hague. The conference was organised by the Netherlands Red Cross, PSO, and Novib/ Oxfam Netherlands, in co-operation with IFRC, Cordaid, World Vision Netherlands, and other Dutch NGOs. In preparation for the conference, Disaster Studies Wageningen conducted research, including a survey of all signatories, on opinions and use of the Code in practice. The conference brought together signatories of the Code, implementing partners from signatories in emergency areas, and support NGOs concerned with the quality of humanitarian aid.
