Abstract:
Cordaid created a project, “Maatwerk bij Terugkeer”, to offer assistance to returnees by helping to remove the obstacles that they foresee upon their return that they cannot solve themselves (or others in their surroundings). The assistance offered by Maatwerk bij Terugkeer may, for example, include finding suitable housing, social assistance, health care and medication. The contact with Maatwerk bij Terugkeer always passes through a ‘support person’ (such as a staff member of the Dutch Refugee Council, Nidos, COA, IOM district officer or a private individual). This manual aims to assist these support persons in their work. It discusses the working methods of Maatwerk bij Terugkeer and clarifies how support persons can contribute to successful mediation.
