Call for nominations - 2021 TWAS AWARDS

TWAS is inviting nominations for the Awards listed below from all its members as well as science academies, national research councils, universities and scientific institutions in developing and developed countries.

Self-nominations (i.e. applications) WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
 
DEADLINE
The deadline to submit complete nominations through the on-line platform is 12 May 2021.
 
NOMINATIONS
Nominations for the awards listed below can only be submitted electronically through the on-line platform by clicking on the:
“New Nomination” button, to start a new nomination;
“Resume” button, i.e. to resume working on saved nominations.

For each award, these buttons are available from dedicated web pages, details of which are given below.

AWARDS TO WOMEN SCIENTISTS - Sustainability science, medical sciences, and biological sciences

The 2021 TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award

  • Eligible candidates for the 2021 award: Women scientists from Least Developing Countries (LDCs) for their contribution in an area, including multidisciplinary work, directly relevant to the science of sustainability.

  • The recipient receives USD 4,000.


The 2021 TWAS-Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi Award

  • Eligible candidates: Women scientists from Science and Technology Lagging countries

  • Nominations for the 2021 award are invited in the field of Medical Sciences

The 2021 TWAS-Abdool Karim Award

  • Eligible candidates: Women scientists national of a Low Income African country.

  • The award recognizes scientific achievements in Biological Sciences.

  • The recipient receives USD 5,000.

AWARDS TO YOUNG SCIENTISTS - Astronomy&Cosmology, Chemistry.

The 2021 TWAS-CAS Young Scientists Award for Frontier Science

  • Eligible candidates are scientists not older than 45 years of age who live and work in a developing country.

  • In 2021 the award will recognize a young scientist for achievements in astronomy and cosmology.

  • The recipient receives USD10,000.


The 2021 TWAS─Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry

  • Eligible candidates are chemists not older than 40 years of age, national of Science and Technology Lagging countries.

  • All fields of Chemistry are eligible.
