Essam is an Assistant Lecturer at the Political Science College in the University of Mesopotamia. Essam holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Arab Studies and Research, of the League of Arab States, Department of Politics. Essam has worked on different researches related to Arab World politics as well as Youth and Human Rights. He has participated in different youth development and political related events and workshops such as the Third Meeting for Arab Youth activists in Jordan organized by Save the Children, as well as numerous conferences and symposia in many Iraqi and Egyptian universities and research centers. Essam decided to return to Iraq and apply the theories and lessons he learned from participating in the different events and workshops in an attempt to help his fellow Iraqi youth to create a space for them to express themselves and dream for a better future and that is when he co-founded the Iraqi Youth Parliament, which is an Iraqi non-governmental youth organization and he became its President until September 2009.
