The IFLA Management of Library Associations Section (MLAS) has established the IFLA MLAS AI Advisory Group in response to the rapid development of artificial intelligence and the growing demand from library associations for timely, reliable guidance. The group brings together global experts in AI and librarianship to provide rapid advisory support to MLAS and to share insights on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.

Through this initiative, MLAS aims to strengthen its capacity to respond quickly to MLAS member needs and to support informed, coordinated, and future-focused engagement with AI across the global library association community, grounded in alignment and constructive collaboration.

The Advisory Group will support MLAS as needed, including potential participation in MLAS-led events. MLAS also welcomes collaboration with other interested IFLA Sections, SIGs, and Advisory Committees, and recognises the IFLA AI SIG as the lead group on AI matters within IFLA.
