Al Hilya Al Sharifa (Sacred Ornament)

Al Hilya Al Sharifa, or the Sacred Ornament, is for the calligrapher the description of Prophet Mohamed, and is considered as the most important panel, that a calligrapher is very keen to write as to highlight his talent in Arabic Calligraphy. This kind of art was established in Istanbul in the 11th Century AH/ 17th Century AD, and the first calligrapher to inscribe this kind of art was the Hafez Othman (1642- 1689). The Hilya represents the noble manners and morals of prophet Mohamed, as well as his attributes in a gilded decorated geometric design.
