PROFILE

A university professor and industrial expert in Production Technology and Management, academically and professionally qualified, with national and international connection and reputation, strong academic and technical background with strategic and tactical management skills, based on more than 33 years of extensive and varied experiences gained in advising and managing, at senior level, a wide range of activities and projects in academia and industry. Acted as a managing Director for two small-scale enterprise projects for 5 years, supported by the Social Development Fund of Egypt, and as chief coordinator of a large-scale enterprise for 4 years. Prime consultant to the Egyptian ministry of Industry and Technological Development, ministry of Investiment, and ministry of Economy and International cooperation and The Holding Company of Pharmacuticals. Provided advice in technical, economical, financial, and marketing studies for manufacturing and service industries, specialising in strategic industrial planning, investment analysis, technology adoption and promotion and reengineering of business processes of public and private sectors. Active member of many international froums in Technology Production, Sustainable Development, University-Industry cooperation and Cutting-Edge Technology. Egypt?s Cultural Counsellor and Director of Education Bureau in Canada for three years (2001-2004). Sat on many top-management positions in academia and higher education. Served as the first undersecretary of state for cultural affairs and missions, ministry of higher education (2004-2008) and conducted a reform and modernisation strategy to the whole sector. Appointed in August 2008 to chair the executive committee of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, a novel state university in Egypt in partnership with Japan, leading, as a project manager, a joint team from both coiuntries to establish a world-class educational and research-intensive institute that will serve the demand for quality research and university graduates in Egypt, Arab countries and Africa.
