Mohamed Omara

Biography:

Omara is a 12+ year veteran in Semiconductors & Integrated Circuits Design with a track record of designing and managing several successful semiconductor chips and high-tech projects for various Digital Communication Systems, mainly wireless, and Embedded Microprocessors.
He received his BSc and MSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Alexandria, Egypt, in 1999 and 2010 respectively. During 2000, being one of only 10 post-graduate students, throughout Egypt, he received a Post Graduate Diploma in VLSI & Embedded Systems Design from the ITI (Information Technology Institute). He worked as a teaching assistant at the ITI before moving to Ellipsis Digital Systems (headquartered in San Diego, California) in 2001. In Ellipsis, he worked with a team to design a Wireless LAN multiprocessor chip. During the period from 2001 to 2004, he contributed to the design of more than 5 embedded microprocessors, and participated in developing the Company's new innovative design methodology. In 2005, he moved to Malaysia to lead SyMMiD's team to implement their Wireless PAN chip. In 2006, he was a Principal Engineer and Design Lead for Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. Dubai Silicon Oasis site. In December 2008, he co-founded Fascila Limited (UK registered) and became its CEO before relocating it to Egypt early in 2011 under the new name of Fascila Technologies, LLC. He has two pending patents in the field of low-power design and implementation of wireless sensor networks. He also gave several lectures across the nation, including the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, regarding entrepreneurship and the link between industry and academia.
