Professor Emanuela Colombo

Biography:

Prof. Emanuela Colombo holds both, a PhD in Energetic and a Nuclear Engineering, and a MSc at Politecnico di Milano in Italy where she is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Energy. She has also been acting as the Rector's Delegate for Cooperation and Development at Politecnico di Milano since 2005. Prof. Colombo is the Scientific Coordinator of different international projects and works on consultancy and advocacy projects on access to energy for different Italian private players and NGOs. She is author of more than 120 scientific papers presented in national and international conferences and published in international journals and co-author of the book "Renewable Energy for Unleashing Sustainable Development". Since 2007 she has been Coordinator of the University Network for Development Cooperation (CUCS) which includes 29 universities. Furthermore, she worked as international expert for the United Nation Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and for the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP). In 2012, she has been named Chair holder of the UNESCO Chair on Energy for Sustainable Development assigned to the Department of Energy.
Since 2014, within the new platform of dialogue established by the Italian Direction General for Cooperation and Development and the Italian Conference of the Rector (CRUI), she has been acting as Co-Coordinator of the Working Group on Impact Evaluation. She is currently member of the Sustainable Development Panel of Electricité De France (EDF) and Adjunct Professor at the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology in Arusha.


Abstract:
