Biography:

Dr. Ibrahim El-Osery has his PhD in Physics and Reactor Technology and MSc in Reactor Burnup Physics. He is presently advisor for Energy and Nuclear affairs at the Ministry of Electricity and Energy/Nuclear Power Plants Authority, Cairo, Egypt and part-time teaching (as full professor) in the Nuclear and Radiation Engineering Department in Alexandria University, Cairo American University, and other institutions in Egypt. He served as Senior Nuclear Safeguards Inspector at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna (Austria) for the period from August 1991 through February 2009. He was Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy and Head of Nuclear Fuel Division in the Nuclear Power Plants Authority in Egypt before joining the IAEA. He supervised many PhD and MSc degrees and published many research papers in reactor technology, nuclear fuel management, economic feasibility studies, hydrogen energy systems, and nuclear safety. He is holder of Nobel Prize for peace for year 2005 as IAEA SG staff shared with the IAEA DG Dr. M. AlBaradei. He is holder of the Egyptian State Prize in Engineering Sciences, 1986; the Prize acknowledges leading contributions on both National and International levels to the R&D in Engineering Sciences and Technology. He is holder of the Egyptian State Prize in Excellency in Management and Production Rationalization, 1985. He is a licensed consultant by the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate for Feasibility of Electric Power Plants. He participated in the nuclear activities relevant to the first nuclear power plant project in Egypt; in its phase of the eighties and he is participating in its current phase nuclear activities.
