Biography:

Prof. Samir Radwan graduated from Cairo University (BSc in Economics, 1963) and the University of London (PhD in Economics, 1973). After working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University (1963�65), he was appointed as a lecturer and researcher at the Institute of Economics and Statistics, Oxford University. Then, he became a member of St. Antony�s College, Oxford (1970�76). He has a long international career working with the International Labor Organization (ILO) where he progressed from the position of a Senior Economist into Director of major departments dealing with employment and development (1976�2003). Prof. Radwan has published extensively on human resources development, labor markets, poverty, financial policies, macro-economic policies, industrial policies, rural development, competitiveness, and African and Arab economies. Following the Arab Spring, he was the first Minister of Finance after the 25 January Revolution. He remained in office until July 2011. Presently, he is a freelance policy consultant for regional and international agencies, contributing to the efforts by global think-tanks that reflect on the future of the global economy with particular emphasis on social justice.
