Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. The CSSP will help researchers and scientists to get the best support needed to advance their work through international collaborations.

TWAS Arab Regional Award 2021

Public Understanding and Popularization of Science

Application Deadline (Extended): 25 July 2021

TWAS Regional Awards for 2021 will be awarded in recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions to popularize science, and have developed new strategies that serve the popularization of science and technology in developing countries.

TWAS Regional Award winner will receive a USD 3,000 cash award.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates for a TWAS-AREP Prize must be scientists who have been working and living in a developing country for at least ten years. They must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Scientific research achievement of outstanding significance for the development of scientific thought.
  • Outstanding contribution to the application of Science and Technology to industry or to human well-being in a developing country.  

The nominations will only be accepted and valid from:

  • Members of TWAS-AREP.
  • Science Academies, National Research Councils, Universities, Scientific Institutions from the Arab Region.

Nominations of women scientists are particularly encouraged.

Note: Self nominations are not allowed.

TWAS Arab Young Affiliates 2021 – 2026

 Application Deadline (Extended): 25 July 2021

 

The five TWAS Regional Partners each select up to five scientists under the age of 40 years annually to be 'TWAS Young Affiliates' for a period of six years.

During their tenure, Affiliates are invited to participate in TWAS general meetings and conferences.

This program seeks to identify the best young scientists in each region of the developing world and provide them with opportunities to network with one another, with TWAS Fellows, and to attend international conferences and other events for young scientists.

TWAS Arab Young affiliates eligibility criteria:

  • Less than 40 years by nomination date.
  • Native of an Arab country.
  • Has at least 10 international publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  •  Residing and working in a developing country for at least the past three years.

Note: Self-Nomination is allowed.

The call for the MENA-ASLP is Now Open for Applications.

The Middle East/North Africa-SLP workshop is a joint initiative of the ASLP in collaboration with the Egyptian Young Academy of Sciences and is aimed at developing early to mid-career academics located in the MENA region.

Eligible countries include Egypt, Algeria, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
