BA/CSSP Micro Research Grants Program (MRG)

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is offering Micro Research Grants for Egyptian school students seeking funds to finance innovative ideas in one of the following fields:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Engineering
  • Environment
  • Information Technology
  • Materials Science
  • Physics

Objectives

Today's students are tomorrow's leaders, and since the Bibliotheca Alexandrina aims to be a center of excellence for the production and dissemination of knowledge, it has been the Library’s goal to encourage youth to interact within their communities and solve problems they encounter. The Micro Research Grants program introduces a sustainable culture of invention to schools and communities with the aim of empowering students to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math during high school.

Judging

The committee of judges shall represent various fields, including engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, information technology, materials science, and medicine.

Your written materials are judged according to the originality and inventiveness of the invention idea, process, or technology. Your essay must be complete, workable, and well-articulated. Inventions are also judged by their potential value to society (socially, environmentally, and economically), and on their scope of use.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have idea for an invention that can be executed, developed, and improved up on.
  • Students must be enrolled in an Egyptian public or private school.
  • Students must have a mentor for their project.
  • Student(s) can submit an individual or team project. Teams can be no larger than four students.
