The Bibliotheca Alexandrina launches the closing conference of the Support to Cultural Diversity and Creativity in Egypt program tomorrow

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina launches the closing conference of the Support to Cultural Diversity and Creativity in Egypt program tomorrow; Saturday November 14. The program is co-funded by the European Union and implemented jointly with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Entitled “Suggestions for a Framework of a National Cultural Policy in Egypt”, the conference will be held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center between 14-16 November, 2015.

The first day of the conference starts with an opening session, presented by Ismail Serageldin; Director of the BA, and representatives of Helmy El Namnam; Minister of Culture, Sahar Nasr; Minister of International Cooperation, and Ambassador James Moran; Head of European Union Delegation to Egypt.

The first day will also feature a 20-minutes documentary on the program. This will be followed by a review of the achievements realized through the program, presented by Engineer Hoda El Mikaty; the Action Director and the Head of the BA Cultural Outreach Sector. Speakers in this session will also include the officers of the main activities implemented under the program, where each of them will give a short brief on the implementation of their activities.

The first day will also witness the inauguration of the exhibition accompanying the conference. Highlighting the six main activities of the program, the exhibition displays some of the artworks produced by the participants in the different activities. The first day of the conference will also include a number of parallel sessions through which a variety of topics related to improving the cultural sector in Egypt are explored such as; the state of culture in Egypt, and archeology and heritage in Egypt.

A large and diversified number of participants are invited to attend the event including: public figures, artists, ministry officials, intellectuals and representatives from national and international cultural bodies, as well as a number of the participants who joined the different activities of the program.
