Workshop on "Audience Development and Building: Arts Marketing"

In collaboration with the European Union, and within the framework of the Support to Cultural Diversity and Creativity in Egypt program, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a workshop under the title of “Audience Development and Building: Arts Marketing”. The workshop is prepared and  presented by Dr. Patrick S. Föhl; founder and director of the Network for Cultural Consulting in Germany. It will be held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina between 15 to 17 of September, 2015.

Implemented under the Mapping activity; one of the main activities under the program which aims to map and consolidate the existing cultural operators all over Egypt, the workshop aims to train workers in the cultural field on a set of sophisticated techniques, to raise their skills and prepare them to carry out their responsibilities to further enhance the cultural development of Egypt. The event will explore the definition of culture and its importance to society. It will also tackle long and short-term planning for cultural institutions. Laying a special emphasis on arts marketing, the workshop will discuss the marketing of cultural products and developing effective marketing plans.


About the Presenter:

Dr. Patrick S. Föhl, was born in 1978 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. He acquired his PhD in arts management and has a degree in cultural work. Since 2004, Föhl has been the founder and director of the Network for Cultural Consulting (Netzwerk Kulturberatung). He has worked for different cultural institutions, and also conducted various cultural planning projects in Germany and other European countries. He is also a guest lecturer and speaker at various universities and institutions in Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Tunisia, Pakistan and the United states of America, amongst other countries. Föhl has published extensively in the field of arts management and cultural policy, and has been on the board of the Association of Cultural Management (Fachverband Kulturmanagement) since 2013.
