The BA Honors Dr. Moustafa El-Feki in a Major Ceremony

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, inaugurated yesterday a major ceremony to honor Dr. Moustafa El-Feki, the thinker and politician, and former Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria; Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport; Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University; Dr. Essam Sharaf, former Prime Minister of Egypt; Dr. Ali El-Din Helal, Professor of Political Science at Cairo University; Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, former Minister of Industry and Trade, and a large number of intellectuals, thinkers and writers.

During the ceremony, Dr. El-Feki received the BA Shield of Honor, presented to him by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, as well as other honorary shields from Alexandria Governorate, Alexandria University, and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

The celebration also witnessed the screening of a short film about Dr. Moustafa El-Feki, produced by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. It concluded with the inauguration of El-Feki’s personal library (comprising ten thousand books), which he dedicated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Zayed praised Dr. El-Feki’s prolific career, as the latter was an accomplished diplomat who served at major international organizations and institutions, in addition to his work for the Egyptian Presidency, where he provided all forms of service to the nation. Dr. Zayed also pointed out that El-Feki had made great contributions in the academic field, as he produced several books and researches, served as professor at many universities, and was the Founding President of the British University in Egypt.

Dr. Moustafa El-Feki, in turn, thanked Dr. Ahmed Zayed and the BA staff for this honor. He also stressed that he was very proud of the years he spent as Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and was satisfied with what had been achieved during those years.
