A Busy Cultural Agenda at the Alexandria International Book Fair

Alexandria—A rich cultural program takes place on the fringe lines of the BA Alexandrina International Book Fair, held from 25 February to 14 March 2010, with the participation of publishing houses and cultural institutions from several Arab countries.

The guests of honor for this eighth edition of the Fair are France and Mauritania, who also partake in the Fair’s cultural activities. French participants tackle multimedia tools in publishing and education, scientific publications and young people’s literature, while the Arab guests of honor interest themselves with the cultural interaction between Egypt and Mauritania.

The guests of the Fair’s seminars include Novelists Ibrahim Abdel Meguid and Ibrahim Aslan, Dr. Youssef Zidan, Writer Belal Fadl, Actor Khaled El-Sawy, Dr. Nabil Farouq, Sheikh Khaled El-Gindy and Amal Moustafa Mahmoud.

Distinguished Poets Ahmed Abdel Moaty Hegazy, Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Senna and Fouad Taman participate in poetry readings. Activities also include readings for young poets, as well as a musical night with Waguih Aziz.

The Fair also witnesses book signings of Once Upon a Time in Jerusalem, by Dr. Sahar Hamouda, Beqalam Anwar El-Sadat (By Anwar El-Sadat), compiled by Dr. Khaled Azab and Amr Shalaby, and the short story collection Azadora wal Autobis (Azadora and the Bus) by Mohamed Salmawy.
