Memory of Egypt Magazine Celebrates the Declaration of Independence

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina released the 48th issue of Memory of Egypt magazine, which included a special feature on the centenary of the Declaration of Independence in 1922.
This issue’s contributing writers included Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, researcher Bassant Abulwafa, Dr. Ahmed El-Sherbiny, Saad Abdel Rahman, Dr. Mahmoud Ezzat, Sherif Aref, Saeed El-Shehat, Ambassador Mohamed Abdel Moneim El-Shazly, and Mohamed Diab. It discussed topics such as the centenary of the Egyptian diplomacy, martial laws during the British Occupation, the centenary of the 28 February Declaration, and the 1919 Revolution in Upper Egypt from a Greek perspective. It also examined other themes, notably the 1923 Constitution and the first partisan parliament, the national tradesman in the face of the occupying foreigner, the event of 4 February 1942, seventy years since the decline of the monarchy, and the Egyptian national anthem. Additionally, a number of different articles by Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Zeinab Abdel Razek, and Dr. Ahmed Mansour examined topics such as the centenary of the Arabic Calligraphy School, women in ancient Egyptian civilization, and the memoirs of Egyptologists.
The magazine is preparing to release a special issue – written by specialists, with photos published for the first time – on the centenary of the discovery of the Tutankhamun tomb, and the bicentenary of the decipherment of the Rosetta Stone.
It is worth mentioning that Memory of Egypt magazine is supervised by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, and edited by Dr. Sameh Fawzy. It is distributed at Akhbar Al-Youm outlets and the BA bookstores.
