“Ottoman Scientific Heritage” Seminar and Book Launch at the BA

The BA Center for Islamic Civilization Studies, in cooperation with Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation, organizes a seminar and book launch entitled “Ottoman Scientific Heritage”, delivered by Prof. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu.

This seminar comes as part of the Center's interest in the heritage of Islamic civilization, which encompasses science, arts and literature extending from China in the east to Andalusia in the west.

The event will be inaugurated by Prof.  Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, with the participation of Prof. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, former Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and author of the book Ottoman Scientific Heritage; and Dr. Magda Makhlouf, Professor at Ain Shams University, and the book’s translator. Other participants include Prof. Ayman Fouad Sayed, President of the Egyptian Society of Historical Studies; Dr. Mohamed Afifi, Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University; Dr. Sayed Mohamed Mahmoud, Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University; and Mr. Sali Shahsivari, Managing Director of Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation.

The Seminar is held on Wednesday, 14 December 2022, from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm, in the BACC Delegates Hall.
