Supercourse
The concept of the Supercourse is building a “metaschool”
of a variety of themes that could train students through the Internet.
Lectures are selected and made available on the Internet for the
personal use of individual scientists and shared without restrictions
among scientists and teachers, but cannot be sold. If one uses a
Supercourse lecture, the author of the lecture and the Supercourse
itself should be acknowledged. The content and its accuracy are
solely determined by the authors of the lectures. A pilot project
has been initiated taking the public health as a theme and 1500
electronic lectures that represent the “best lectures” in epidemiology
have been selected and made available on CD as well as on the web.
The BA has accepted the responsibility of maintaining
a mirror site of the Supercourse http://www.bibalex.org/supercourse
and automating the process of lecture selection and review,
thus ensuring high availability and reliability. The target is to
increase the collection to 100,000 lectures in a year and to achieve
one million lectures in a three years time frame, by building a
strong network of willing participating institutions and/or individuals.
