About the

Planetarium Science Center

The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is a hands-on facility that offers interactive knowledge in various fields of science with special emphasis on Physics and Astronomy.

The PSC aims at propagating scientific culture through a series of scientific shows, exhibits and workshops, available to visitors regardless of their age or their scientific background, to promote the concept of science centers as an educational tool.

The PSC comprises three main sections:

The Planetarium
The Ancient Library of Alexandria played a significant role in establishing and developing the basic rules of Astronomy as a scientific discipline. Following in its footsteps, the new Bibliotheca Alexandrina complex includes a Planetarium that seeks to revive public interest in revealing all cosmic mysteries.

The ALEXploratorium

It is located next to the Planetarium, where visitors are able to interact with its exhibits which cover various scientific topics, with emphasis on Physics and Astronomy.

The History of Science Museum
It is housed in the reversed pyramid underneath the Planetarium. The Museum is designed to pay homage to those scholars whose work has contributed to the spread of scientific knowledge.
