Bibliotheca Alexandrina Celebrates the International White Cane Safety Day

Taha Hussein for the Visually Impaired, Library Sector, in cooperation with Hans Seidel Foundation, organizes the International White Safety Cane Day on Wednesday 6 of November 2019 at 10.00 am. This celebration comes within the cultural and enlightening role of Bibliotheca Alexandrina towards the different groups of society.
The White Cane Safety Day aims at advocating the rights of the visually impaired in Egypt and sheds the light on the importance of the white cane and using it safely in a well-paved way. It also encourages the government and the civil society to be obliged to their duty and role towards the visually impaired.
This year the celebration includes various interactive activities for the blind school students and their public sighted peers. These activities will take place at the BA Plaza. The celebration will also include an honoring for the outstanding students in different fields.

مكتبة الإسكندرية تحتفل اليوم العالمي للعصا البيضاء

في إطار الدور المجتمعي الذي تقوم به مكتبة الإسكندرية ودورها الثقافي والتنويري تجاه فئات المجتمع المختلفة، تنظم مكتبة طه حسين للمكفوفين وضعاف البصر بقطاع المكتبات احتفالية اليوم العالمي للعصا البيضاء الساعة العاشرة صباح يوم الأربعاء 6 نوفمبر، بالتعاون مع المؤسسة الألمانية هانس زايدل.
وتهدف الاحتفالية لإلقاء الضوء على مكفوفي مصر لنشر الوعي عن حقوقهم، وأهمية استخدام العصا في حياة المكفوفين والسير بها بشكل آمن في طريق ممهد، والمشاكل التي يواجهونها، وحث الجهات المعنية والمجتمع المدني على القيام بدورهم وواجبهم تجاههم.
وتتضمن فعاليات الحدث هذا العام مجموعة من الأنشطة التفاعلية بين جميع المشاركين من طلبة مدارس المكفوفين والمبصرين بساحة الحضارات الخارجية (البلازا)، بالإضافة إلى تكريم مجموعة من الطلبة والطالبات المكفوفين المتميزين في المجالات المختلفة خلال الاحتفالية.
