Periodicals Cataloging and Indexing

Periodicals are very important as a main source of information; they represent the most up-to-date publications in the various specialties. Researchers in all fields (especially in the fields of science and technology, and other areas of scientific research) mainly rely  on peer-refereed scientific journals to be able to access the latest information in any field. The Course covers all what is related to the technical preparation of this source of information using machine readable cataloging through rules of “MARC 21”. The Course also covers types of periodicals, how to distinguish between them and the other sources of information, and the creation of bibliographic records and holdings records.
