Bibliotheca Alexandrina Distributed the Prizes of the International Competition for the Architectural Design of the Science City

On Sunday 19 September 2016, Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized a grand event to distribute the awards of the International Competition for the Architectural Design of the Science City which will be built in the 6th of October City in Cairo. The competition was under the auspices of the International Union of Architects.

The BA announced the names of the winners in the competition on the 29th of August; Weston Williamson and Partners from the United Kingdom won the first place prize, while Ngiom partnership from Malaysia won the second prize, and Zaha Hadid Architects from the United Kingdom won the third prize. The fourth prize went to Gansam Architects &Partners CO., Ltd from South Korea.

346 contestants from 45 countries participated in the competition. They were filtered to 142 projects from 32 countries. The winning projects were presented in koota exhibition area in Al-Shatby, Alexandria.
