The BA Planetarium is a member of the International Planetarium Society (IPS). A cutting-edge facility featuring state-of-the-art projection technology, the Planetarium aims to help establish a scientific culture in Egypt by offering the public a kaleidoscope of fascinating scientific shows covering a diverse variety of science fields and suitable for a wide range of public sectors.
 

Re-opened in August 2009, in addition to the classic IMAX projector, the Planetarium offers the public digital full-dome shows using the latest Digistar 3 system that details the universe impeccably brining it so close to the public they feel like flying through space and time.
 

Planetarium shows take the public on amazing adventurous journeys to explore the Universe as seen from the past and today; to discover more about the Solar System; to understand our own planet, Earth, with all it wonders; to even venture inside our Human Body to see with our own eyes some of the endless daily miracles that take us from one day to the next.
 

The new Planetarium system will also enable the BA Planetarium Specialists who have already succeeded in producing the first Egyptian planetarium show, also the first to be produced entirely in the Middle East, to build shows from a simple-touch screen interface and watch their creations in the star theatre.

The architectural design of the Planetarium, as a hung planet-like sphere, is integrated within the architectural concept of the main library building, which symbolizes the rising sun of knowledge.

The Planetarium's theatre is a 14-meters-diameter hemisphere comprising 100 seats that are arranged with an increasing backward tilt to give the audience a comfortable view of the 360° surrounding screen.
