The BA Planetarium is a member of the International Planetarium Society (IPS) and it aims to help establish a scientific culture in Egypt, with special emphasis on Astronomy, through a diversified collection of scientific shows that cover a wide range of backgrounds and age groups.
The architectural design of the Planetarium, as a hung planet-like sphere, is integrated within the architectural concept of the main library building, which symbolizes the rising sun of knowledge.
The Planetarium's theatre is a 14-meters-diameter hemisphere comprising 100 seats that are arranged with an increasing backward tilt to give the audience a comfortable view of the 360° surrounding screen.
The BA Planetarium is a regional pioneer in both the Technology of Planetaria, as well as the Production of Arabized Planetarium shows. Furthermore, the BA Planetarium is currently in mid-production of the first Planetarium show to be produced from beginning to end in the Middle East.
