The Bibliotheca Alexandrina sends warm wishes to Yasmine Yehia for winning the first place in the Environmental Sciences category during the 2015 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair finals for her project “Making Use of Gray Water”, the fair was held in the United States of America.

Yasmine developed a device that can evaporate water using the heat resulted from burning rice straw, which can reach 1200 degrees, and then passing rice straw gases on certain algae that produces bio diesel and oil using certain methods. Therefore, we can get rid of the black cloud that lead to many diseases that affect the respiratory system. The device which is approved by experts in the Faculty of Science in Damietta uses rice straw ashes in manufacturing cement and organic fertilizers, it has two turbines; one for generating hydroelectric power and the other for producing energy through the compression of gases.

The Bibliotheca also thanks its success partners, as the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Science and Engineering fair is organized in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Intel Egypt since 2007. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina also thanks the American Embassy in Alexandria for supporting the fair for the second year in a row.
