The Planetarium Science Center has organized the Robotheca Alexandrina Olympiad in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST) on 27-28 November2013. The Olympiad is a local robotics competition for students held in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center sponsored by Research, Development and Innovation Program associated to the Ministry of Scientific Research.

The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) in collaboration with Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST) will hold the first local robotics competition in November 2013, The Robotheca Alexandrina Olympiad (RAO). The competition comprises two categories: the Diver Robot and the Robofight.

In 21 September 2012, the Russian Astronomers Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok, from the International Scientific Optical Network, discovered Comet ISON. The discovery was made using a 16-inch reflector, where the Comet was at a distance of 934 million km from the Sun, which is approximately 6 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun.

On 16 May 2013, in Phoenix, Arizona, the USA, the Special Award Organization winners of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2013 (Intel-ISEF 2013), held on 11-17 May 2013, were announced. Intel-ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition targeting students of 14-18 years of age. The Egyptian team participating in the Fair, encompassing six projects from different Egyptian Governorates, has won two of the Grand Awards for the first time.

For the sixth year, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Planetarium Science Center (PSC) organizes the Summer Program, directed to Children and youth, ages 4-16 years old, during the period from 1 June 2013 to 29 August 2013. The Summer Program comprises two groups presenting the same activities; Group One: from 1 June 2013 to 11 July 2013, and Group Two: from 13 July to 29 August 2013. The Closing Ceremony will be held on 4 September 2013.
