May 2017 Astronomy Night: Ramadan Crescent
17 May 2017
This is not the first not the last time where all Arab and Islamic countries do not agree on the beginning of hijri months. This difference does not occur in Dhu al-Hijjah because Haj takes place only in Saudi Arabia. Hence, this month begins on the same day at all countries despite the different  crescent observations. Most countries tried to unify the beginnings of the months but all in vain.

In our Astronomy Night this month, we will discuss this topic and the obstacles that prevent the unification of the crescent observation. Also, we will tackle the astronomical measurements that astrologers depend on for crescent observation, and whether they contradict with Islamic provisions.

In addition, the Night would also encompass our regular including a contest and observation, if possible.
