Sky of Alexandria, the inauguration

On 29 December 2007, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology celebrated the launch of the "Sky of Alexandria" Planetarium show, the first to be produced entirely in the Middle East. Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Mr. Gamal Mokhtar, Director of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology attended the celebration at the BA Planetarium Science Center where the show was played for the first time at the BA Planetarium in presence of the Heads of Departments in both institutions.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina celebrates Women in Science, 23-24 October 2007

To highlight the importance of the role of women, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina celebrated its fifth anniversary by organizing the “Women in Science” conference taking place 23-24 October 2007, to which the Library invited eminent persons and practicing scientists from all over the world to discuss various pertinent and pressing issues.

The Power of the Sun

The Power of the Sun is an interesting, rich, one-hour documentary that was presented to the BA by the eminent Nobel Laureate, Professor Walter Kohn. The film is available now, with English narration and Arabic subtitles, at the "Listen and Discover" auditorium, part of the BA ALEXploratorium.

Golden Age of Islam, the festivity

On 21 October 2007, the PSC organized a festivity to celebrate the launch of the French documentary "Golden Age of Islam" with Arabic narration. The event included a series of lectures given by specialists and speakers that discussed the various themes presented in the movie.

Recently, the Planetarium Science Center has partnered with the Intel Education Initiative to work together on inspiring the next generation of innovators. Intel Corporation is a pioneer in pushing the boundaries of innovation, which is the motive behind the corporation's interest in the advancement of education. The goal of Intel Education Initiative is to provide school students with the tools needed to become the next generation of innovators, a goal that aligns with the PSC objectives.

End of Summer Festivity 2007

On 11 September 2007, The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) organized a closing festivity to celebrate the end of the fourth ALEXploratorium Annual Summer Festival that started on 24 June 2007 and continued for 11 weeks.

Future City Competition

“Future City” is an international competition held during the National Engineers Week in the United States of America. It aims to provide a fun and exciting educational engineering program while combining a stimulating engineering challenge with a "hands-on" application to present students’ visions of a city of the future.

Summer Festival 2007

The ALEXploratorium launches its Annual Summer Festival for the year 2007 on 24 June. The Festival, which will continue until the "End of Summer Festivity" on 11 September, comprises a variety of fun workshops, interesting films at the "Listen & Discover" hall, and other activities.

Eratosthenes 2007

21 June 2007
The "Eratosthenes Annual Festivity" is an event organized by the History of Science Museum on 21 June of every year, the day of summer solstice, when the Sun is directly overhead and is at its highest point on the horizon. For the second year in arrow, the festivity takes place in both the cities of Alexandria and Aswan.
