Science Festivity 2008, When Science Becomes Yours!
23 April 2008

Science festivals are considered worldwide as a valuable means for the democratization of science. They offer people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to ask questions, discuss, and explore. In the process, visitors experience the pleasure of lifelong learning, whether with family, friends, or on their own. At science festivals, everyone is welcome. One of the steps taken by the PSC has been the initiation of a local science festival, the Annual Science Festivity. It is the target of the PSC to transform the Science Festivity into a National Festival within the coming years.

The Annual Science Festivity targets the public in general and children in particular and is open to the public for free. The first Science Festivity, with an overarching theme of “Health & Environment”, took place 18 20 April 2007. This year, the Science Festivity took place on 23-25 April 2008; the theme was “Technology”. On the first two days, the Science Festivity took place at the BA; it included the science village, the Super Science Show, documentaries and tours of the PSC. On 25 April 2008, the science village took place in Anotoniadis Gardens.

This year, the BA was partnered by Saint Marc College, the French Cultural Center, Goethe Institute, the British Institute, L’Atelier d’Alexandrie, Senghor University, and Techno Kids. This year, the Science Festivity had twenty nine partners including public and private schools, associations, companies, universities, institutions, as well as international representatives.
