The International Year of Astronomy came to an end. However, this could not have happened without a prestigious meeting in Padua, Italy. The meeting was held on 9-10 January 2010, where some of the Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) participating countries were invited to present activates organized in their countries during the year. Egypt was among these countries, represented by Eng. Ayman Elsayed; Deputy Director of the Planetarium Science Center, SPOC of Egypt. Eng. Ayman presented different activities organized all over Egypt during the Year 2009 for the IYA festivity. Among these activities were Eratosthenes activity for measuring the circumference of the Earth, the Astronomy Olympiad, as well as hosting the European Society for Astronomy in Culture. Moreover, many workshops and public lectures were organized, in addition to going on observation camps in Siwa and Saint Catherine throughout the Year.
