The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) invites your students and all interested people in astronomical phenomena to participate in observing a partial solar eclipse through special optical instruments under the supervision of specialised astronomers. Solar eclipses are among the most magnificent natural phenomena. They occur when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. In Alexandria, where the eclipse will begin at 9:03 am, the Moon will cover up to approximately 55% of the Sun’s apparent diameter. The eclipse will last 3 hours, and will also be visible in most of Europe, North Africa, and central Asia.
Celebrating this celestial spectacle, the PSC invites you to attend a one-hour public lecture entitled “Eclipses of the Sun and the Moon”. The lecture presents intriguing facts on eclipses and the nature and characteristics of the Sun and the Moon.

Caution:
Never observe the Sun with unprotected eyes, or through the telescope, or any other optical aid. The Sun can only be observed through special optical instruments, and under the supervision of an astronomy specialist.
