Document type: report
Download file(s): 118779 (1247 KB)
Abstract: This report provides an overview of Internet connectivity in Zambia and covers technical considerations, existing services and related costs. The report further highlights rural energy for rural connectivity services in areas that are not served by the electricity grids. It also addresses factors that determine the speed of development of rural connectivity in Zambia. The report has been prepared under the auspices of the eBrain Forum of Zambia, a multi-stakeholder network on information and communication technology for development (ICT4D) in Zambia, in collaboration with the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD). The objective of this report is to provide information about the options and cost of connectivity for individuals and organizations to enhance Internet access in rural Zambia. Having a reliable energy supply in the rural areas has also been identified as a key factor for rural access. In view of the rapid emergence of new technologies and changing costs, this study will be updated on a regular basis.
