Abstract: Religious leaders and their communities have great potential to mediate in a situation of conflict. But religion can also have a negative effect and contribute to the escalation of the conflict. This case explores the role religion and religious leaders played in the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992 – 1995) and during the first years after that war.
