Abstract:
In Sierra Leone, War Child is working on improving the psychosocial wellbeing of children, and on empowering children and young people in rural villages. The goal is to build (or rebuild) peaceful communities which focus on the needs of children. The first chapter of this report describes the conflict in Sierra Leone, the consequences for children and the role of child soldiers. Chapter 2 focuses on specific problems facing children in communities and the way in which the work performed by War Child brings about improvements. Chapter 3 describes how the results were measured, and the results themselves can be found in Chapter 4. The conclusions and recommendations for the programme in the future are included in Chapter 5.
