Japanese Americans in the Seattle Japanese American Community Diabetes Study have shown high prevalence rates for type 2 diabetes. Prevalence was much higher in older second generation (Nisei) than in the younger generation (Sansei) Japanese Americans, and conversion to diabetes also occurred more frequently in Nisei than Sansei.
